After a lifetime of beating up my brother over Atari controllers, and memorizing every line from Star Wars, (including Jabba's lines in Huttese), I somehow ended up working here at LucasArts, just after I graduated in 2000. I started out as a prop modeler on Jedi Starfighter, having just enough prior 3D experience to fill a space-thimble. Still not sure how I got my foot in the door, but there were some good folks on my team, and with their help I was cranking out game assets in no time flat. I kept modeling, sometimes designing my own vehicles/props without concept art, and eventually eeked over into doing concept art in an official capacity. Since then, I've climbed to the ranks of Senior Concept Artist, with a little environment modeling sprinkled in here and there. I work with an awesome crew, and I've learned a lot. I've (thankfully) kept improving from project to project, so much that I'm horrified to open up folders from 3 months ago. You probably won't find much art posted here, as a result. But feel free to check out the official LucasArts website and peruse.

Projects that I've drawn stuff for:

Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter

Star Wars: Episode III

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (in production)

In addition to drawing wookiees, I've taken a few clay sculpture classes offered after work. I had a blast, despite it being the first time I'd had to work with stuff like that. I had an 8-week class focusing on life models, then another for maquette sculptures. Teach even brought in the ORIGINAL Leia gold bikini top for us to see. I'll post up photos here after I get around to documenting them. Just remember, it's my first attempt... (so feel free to mock me).

I haven't done much of my own stuff in the past 7 years, since I get my fill of creative expression drawing ewoks and lightsabers. But I have taken a few requests for portraits and other things from friends here and there.

The two full-length portraits are for my friends Rich and Greg, (brothers), that I painted as a gift. I designed them so that they make one painting when put together, but were mounted seperately so that each guy could take their own portrait home with them. For the portrait in the middle, I took an old art deco card that I had and put ol' Skip Henderson in the scene. I'm a big fan of his music, (he did the bar brawl music for Dead Man's Chest). I've met him a few times, and he made a big impression on me. I couldn't resist doing this bit of fan art for him. The bottom portrait is of my friend Ace, (otherwise known as Captain Jack SpareRibs, the magician). He and the Pirates of Harbor Bay do stage shows around the area, which include magic, stunts, juggling, and a talking monkey named Maynard. I joined Ace and his family down at Disneyland for the opening of DMC and the new ride, and got the idea that I could do a rip-off of the ride poster with Ace and Maynard in it. I had a poster-size printed out for Ace's birthday, and it went over really well.

You probably notice a bit of a piratical theme. Did I mention that I like pirates? I've been known to dress up as a pirate and fight crime on the weekends. There are a bunch of jerks that I found that like to do the same, so it's kind of a club. Funny enough, there's a lot of part-time scallywags in the Bay Area. You can check out Tales of the Seven Seas and the Pirates of Harbor Bay, both fine groups with lots of characters, and I hang out with both. I don't don my sword and rum bottle VERY often, but it's fun to dress up and threaten little old ladies every now and then...
