Behold the wonder of lo-poly environment modeling! In case you skipped past my ramblings on the concept art page, you should know that I started out as a prop modeler at LucasArts. I only got the job after chaining myself to a computer for 2 weeks, trying to muddle through 3DS Max tutorials. But thanks to some talented and nice folks at Lucas, I learned a lot about fun stuff like verts and UV unwrapping and exporting to the engine, and I ended up working on several projects as an environment/prop modeler. I also did all my own texturing, lighting, and even the occasional FX. I've been doing a lot more concept art as opposed to 3D work on the past few projects, so most of the work is old-gen stuff. I enjoy the 3D stuff enough that I volunteer for a few props now and then, and even work on my own scenes at home. I've kept up with the times thanks to the talented folks I work with, and I've since moved on to Maya, and have even dabbled in nornal maps and the such. (Keep an eye out for Jar Jar in carbonite...)
Projects I've done 3D work on:
Star Wars: Starfighter
Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Star Wars: Episode III
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, (in production)
The most awesome 3D model I've ever made? Right here baby:
These were going to be 'Easter Eggs' that I came up with to be in the background of a scene, but it didn't make it. I'm still laughing about "It's a Trap!"... For the same scene, I also modeled Bop 'Em Soc 'Em Guybrush and LeChuck:
